As of late Thursday afternoon thirty eight boats have arrived in Kupang. There has been some delays o on Custom and Quarantine inspection due to problem with inspection team who prefer to check boats in random rather than by their time of arrival. For this I am asking for apology.
Due to some complaints received last year, this year organizing committee are making some adjustments. For instance the scheduling is more "relaxed". Scheduled next events at Alor is not due until August 9. Those who are interested spending more time in Kupang or those who are interested to visit Wini/Kefa may do so. Idea to have a bit of event in Wini came at the last minute. Last year they put on quite a bit of show. There has been some complaints about anchorage and currents (seem that sailing close ashore will help).
Although some boats may be arriving early in Alor, local Governments are ready to accept them. I will be laving for Alor this Sunday to check on final preparation. Alor traditionally is one of the favourite stops on previous Rallies. Hopefully it will be the same or better this year.
Although I have been informed that fuel will be available, I will inform you after checking it myself or getting final confirmation.
Some of the participants who have visited Night Market in Kupang in general claimed that they enjoyed their visit. Fish are fresh and prices are reasonable.
Dinner for twelve of cost "whopping" about A$3.50/person (yes, three dollar and fifty cents). No beer though.
Kiwi Coyote visited a place where they do traditional weaving and really enjoyed the trip. You may have to rent a car to get a car to get there (cost RP. 50.000/hour). Address is : INA NDAO at Jalan Kebun Raja.
Some freelancer offer organized trips. Car rental with driver in average cost about Rp. 500.000/day. With the driver. Make sure you get their name and phone number.
It look like Dinner organized by Town of Kupang was a great success. Hopefully it is a great start. Not perfect yet, but we try.
